New Year, New Website
On January 1, we launched a new website design. It will be a work in progress until January 4.
In this period, there may be some minor bugs and a few poorly styled pages.
We will be working to cure these defects. We apologize in advance for the inconvenience.
The North Texas Area
The North Texas Area is part of the Southwest Region of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), which has as its vision "to be a faithful, growing church that demonstrates true community, deep Christian spirituality and a passion for justice" (Micah 6:8). Rev. Hector Morales called as Community Regional Minister for North Texas
The Christian Church in the Southwest has called Rev. Hector Morales to serve as the Community Regional Minister for Hispanic Ministries and to serve the churches in the Greater Dallas Area. "God knew what he was doing and through prayer and the discernment of the Holy Spirit, God took us to interview additional candidates, and the committee chose by consensus Rev. Hector Morales as the anointed candidate for the position of CRM for Greater Dallas and Hispanic Ministries," according to the news release.
Morales has been a Disciple of Christ all his life, being born of Disciples parents and sensing a call to ministry at the age of 8. He is married to Damaris Rodriguez, has two daughters and 3 grandchildren, and lives in Frisco. An Army veteran and former military chaplain, he has also served in trauma, institutional and hospice settings as chaplain, and has been a local church pastor. He was Moderator of the Florida Southwest Convention, and served on the executive committee of Obra Hispana, as well as the Florida Regional Board. He has been ordained since 2000.
A Celebration of Ministry
Retired Area Minister Larry Ross and and Lyn Robinette, retired North Texas Area Administrative Assistant, are so thankful for the wonderfully staged and well attended retirement celebration Sunday afternoon, Jan 19, 2020. Special thanks go to the planning group, chaired by Rev. Gary H. Speer, Sr., Minister, Highlands Christian Church, to the host pastor, Rev. Deborah Morgan Stokes, and to East Dallas Christian Church's hostess extraordinaire, Peggy McCurdy and all the others who worked hard to make this event so superb! The Great Hall was decorated as a Winter Wonderland, the food was stellar, and all the speakers were most kind.
As of January 1, 2020 Congregational Support formerly given to the North Texas Area of the Christian Church should be sent to the:

Southwest Region continues Restructure
God is at work in the Southwest Region! Over the years, there have been several efforts to reorganize the Region to increase the entire Region’s effectiveness and viability.
There is now an approved redesign that will place all administrative and staffing responsibilities at the Regional level, with a Regional staff consisting of a Regional Minister, Regional Executive, and Community Regional Ministers and support staff located across the entire Region. Areas would continue to provide valuable volunteer-led ministry. Click below to read more about the background and process that led us to this point.
The North Texas Area Board has approved this Area's participation in Regional Restructure. This Areal continued its current programs through the end of 2019. Now, as of January of 2020, NTA churches should send the same level of support (or more) to the Christian Church in the Southwest's office. Beginning January of 2020, the NTA Area Board and Cabinet is continuing Area work on a volunteer basis, and receives ministry from a Rev. Hector Morales, the Regionally called and deployed Community Regional Minister.

The 80 churches of the North Texas Area cordially invite you to join us this Sunday. We can help you find a Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), where doubting and believing can live together without judging, a kind of church where we respect God's Word and your mind.
The Engaging Church Seminar
Is On-Line at the NTA Website!
The North Texas Area of the Christian Church in the Southwest has launched an on-line video seminar for churches in the NTA. The NTA has licensed the "Engaging Church" seminar produced by Church Growth, Inc. The arrangement allows the NTA to present the complete video seminar in its secure Member Portal for the clergy and laity of the North Texas Area.
The seminar discusses how to attract outsiders, connect visitors and integrate new members. The seminar is presented in high-quality Flash video in six sessions. In addition to all six full-length videos, the seminar workbook is provided, session summaries and an area-wide on-line discussion forum for talking about each session of the seminar.
