Church Children and Youth Ministries
Building relationships between the church’s adults, youth, and children is the first priority of our youth and children’s ministry. Involving youth and children in the life, ministry, and mission of the church is second. We see our children and young people as full fledged participants in the community of faith.
Some of this happens through organized activities and groups, such as the Sunday school classes.
Philosophy of Participation
Part of our philosophy is to raise up children in a Christian faith community where Biblical, moral, and faith education is geared toward appropriate age, social skills, and stages of cognitive development. However, we also take an approach where children and young adults should not be continually segregated from the main body of the church, to be limited in interaction only to similar youth. Rather youth should be given the opportunity for mentoring and spiritual role modeling by serving alongside adults where possible.
Some Examples
In the past year our youth have made great contributions in time, sweat, and talent in such ministries as:
- The Central Dog Park (maintenance, promotion, dog sitting)
- Westside Players (actors, production help in adult and children’s theatre)
- Fourth of July Parade (float construction, decoration, gift preparation)
- Ministry at the Juliet Fowler Home in East Dallas (distribution of gift bags, choir, visitation)
- Junior Deacons (helping with administration of worship service)
- Youth Sunday (entire worship service led by youth)
- Morning Worship (youth choir, duets, scripture reading, slide preparation, offering, communion)
- Fall Festival (costumes, booths, games, food)
Children’s Sermon
Our morning worship also includes a short children’s message aimed at children up to nine-years-old given by several different people each month.
Youth Choir
Our youth choir, led by David Aston, gives opportunity to bring praises year round to our morning worship and special seasonal services.
Youth Education
Classes for toddlers through teens are held on Sunday mornings 9:45 a.m.-10:45 a.m., upstairs in the education wing. We also have frequent field trips across Dallas for fellowship and fun.
Camping program
For third grade through college, Central Christian Church shares camping programs with 80 other Christian Churches in the North Texas Area. Most of them are held at the Crossing Point camp grounds in Athens, Texas.
Central Academy
For arts and academics, Central Academy serves the community in providing excellent lessons, tutoring, and classes where the local school system may not be able to meet all these needs. Central Christian Church also serves as the venue for these students, providing opportunity to use these skills to the glory of God.
