Children and Youth Ministries
OUR PHILOSOPHY of ministry with children and youth begins with our understanding that families are the primary place for spiritual nurture and growth, with parents and other adult family members being the primary teachers. Our role as a church is to support this by equipping adults to teach the children in their lives about God and share their own walk with Christ so that these young people will come to choose to commit themselves to a life of discipleship. In our direct work with kids, we offer the following:
Children's Ministries
Jesus said, "Let the children come to me, and don't hinder them, for to them and others like them belongs God's Kingdom!" Forest Grove offers several opportunities for children of all ages to meet, learn from, and love Jesus under the leadership of a trained and loving team of lay people.
Sunday School - 9:30-10:30 am in the Ministry Center.
Through Computers, Crafts, Games, Cooking, Story-telling and other modes our children learn the stories of our faith and apply them to their own lives and relationships with God.
Sunday Worship – 10:45 am in the Sanctuary.
The children share in worship in the Sanctuary in this service designed to be open and welcoming to multiple learning styles. Following Communion and Children's Message the kids 2nd grade and younger are invited to go to Children's Worship during the sermon. They are also welcome to remain with their families in the sanctuary as suits each family.
Fellowship - The children periodically gather for parties and retreats.
Service - The children learn to show God's love to others in small and simple ways.
If you are interested in any of these groups or activities, please contact our Children's Ministry.
Youth Ministries
You may not spend much time thinking or talking about it, but the Christian Faith includes the affirmation that Jesus was a teenager! Jesus tells us that when we love others in His name, we're showing love to Him. And Jesus wants us to reach ALL God's children with His overwhelming and amazing love that transforms our lives.
On Sunday Mornings from 9:30 -10:30 we meet in the Barn to play, study and share. Then we all attend worship @ 10:45 am.
Service - Its important that we do things for others. On a regular basis we get a chance as small or large groups to reach out to those around us - our peers and others, and show them some kindness as a way to experience and show God's love.
Fun - Jesus loved a good party, and so do we. Whether here, at someone's home, in the community or at camp, we love to laugh and play, again as a way to experience and show God's love.
Support - Being a teenager can be tough. (Being a human is tough, who are we kidding!) We try to be here for each other, and when we need an adult to encourage and counsel us, they are around too.
Grow - Just like we have to get the right kind of rest, exercise, and food to be healthy, our spirits
need to be nourished too. This happens in all the things we do as watchers and followers of Jesus, and the closer we get to Him, the healthier we'll be.
